It pleases me to update you on the activities of the IPU Presidency Campaign.

1. I was privileged to be nominated and endorsed by the Executive Committee of the 23rd Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) Plenary Assembly in June 2007 in Windhoek, Namibia. Subsequently,



2. I received endorsement by the IPU Africa Group in October 2007 in Geneva, Switzerland.



3. I also received the endorsement of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union as the sole candidate for Africa in February 2008.



4. Furthermore, I was endorsed by the IPU GRULAC Group at the 118th IPU Assembly in Cape Town, South Africa in April 2008.



5. In addition, I have numerous verbal and written commitments from the broad Membership of the IPU.
